Oh ho, I thought we need a general discussion thread which is about everybody's favourvite topic ... Life! Your own life-lah, not Maksim's. It would be a good idea for us to just come round and do our own thang, tell our stories and about current projects ... I know some ppl don't post bcos they don't know what to post (thanks for telling me about that. Now I understand.) so this is a thread where you can post just about anything, cos it's your life and noone can say you're wrong or stupid! :imwidstupid:

So yeah, I've got some job interviews lined up today, so you gals better wish me luck, ok? It's rather crazy. I'm gonna dress up properly and cycle to each and every kindergarden in this area to ask for a job (yep, you read me, CYCLE!!!) Didn't even arrange for an interview beforehand. ;)

Thing is, I've tried calling up beforehand, and the first few phone interviews went very well. Until the lady on the other end asked me "OK, we'll arrange for a live interview. When are you free?" and I had to tell her that I was still sitting for my government exams and I wouldn't be free till December (actually, I'm not really that free in December either) and that was when she realised how young I actually was! Needless to say, I didn't get the job. :grumbles: A lot of ppl tend to underestimate you when you're too young.

What about you guys? What have you been up to?

Oh.. Interviews.. CoOl.. So, how were the interviews? haha.. Dress up.. I've never gone to an interview before.. I only work for my parents, that's it.. I can't get a job til I'm 17.. What are you going to do/ be? Cycle.. That sounds tough.. ^_^

Well, I haven't been doing alot of things lately.. Helping my mom work, struggling to complete my homework etc. But haha.. My mom don't really ask me to do stuff for her when I'm doing my work.. Cos she's afraid that I'll start saying that I wanna migrate.. Haha.. But no matter what, I still wanna migrate.. Maybe I'll change my mind about migrating to Australia someday.. But definitely NOT NOW.. :P

Why do you wanna get a job? To earn more money for the family so your parents need not work so hard? Or for experience? Or you've got nothing to do at home? Or you feel that you're old enough to work?

Ooooh, the interviews. I left at 9 smth in the morning and only managed 2 by the time I got home. They were for kindergarden jobs, and since I didn't make appointments, I had to sit and wait. Basically, I applied to these montesorri (sp?) childcare centres, and some were so "posh" that they wanted employees to sign a contract for 5 years, which I cannot do since I wanna continue with my education. <_< There was one, run by an AngMoh lady (I assume you know what that is. For those who don't, it means Caucasian.) which gave be a better shot even though coming home, I realised that I did several things wrong in the interview. blech :wacko: I really hope she lets me have the job. Otherwise I might need to ... I dunno, start my own Taekwondo classes or smth. I need to write my Taewkondo instructor's resume, which is unfortunately, unimpressive. There's another clerical job which I would apply to later today, but if I could choose, I'd take the Ang Moh lady's kindy.

What do your parents work as and what do you help them do? I help mine work, even during schooldays, but it isn't really considered working when you do it with your parents. Hehe. :rolleyes: I can see why you wanna migrate to Australia, I used to think that way too, but somehow ... I dunno why, I don't think about it anymore. I used to think that it would be really cool to leave Penang for somewhere like KL, but not anymore. Guess it must be part of growing up. At the moment, my sentiments are "yeah, sure, I don't mind going abroad to study, work or smth, but I'm gonna come home to Penang." Hehehe, weird, I suppose.

Hmm ... why am I looking for a job? Well, we've planned the trip to Singapore for 2 years already, and we've been saving for it. Basically, I think it will deplete my finances. Hehe. But travel's worth the cost. So getting a job which is worth doing and pays well is my goal. No standing-in-the-supermarket for me unless I'm waaay desperate, I want to learn smth relevant on the job. Plus, it looks good on my resume - you need different resumes for different jobs, you see. And at the moment, my resume is only suitable for a teaching post.

How long are your holidays? :huh: They seem rather ... normal. Didn't you go anywhere special? And Ianne's back, rite? How was her trip to Australia?

haha.. You should start your own Taekwondo classes.. ;) How long have you been learning Taekwondo? Oh.. Maybe you don't learn it anymore cos you've already mastered it.. haha..

My mother is a seamstress.. While my father is the owner of a driving school(not a big one).. He teaches driving theory too so he's sort of like a teacher.. What about your parents? I help my mom sew and answer phone calls for my father in the office.. Yah, I don't think I'm working for them but sort of like helping them.. :)

My hols about 2 mths.. Nope, I didn't go anywhere cos there're too much work to do and both my parents do not have the time to take us abroad.. So it's a bOrInG hol.. What abt your hol? Anything else besides coming to Singapore?

Hehe, I still learn Taekwondo ... have got a long way to go even though I'm already a black belt. Basically, what I've been doing is assist in the teaching, but I'd like to start my own. It's not easy though. I have my studies to think about, like "What if I hit the jackpot and get matriculation? Do I just abandon my classes?"

Oh cool! Your father's a driving instructor! I'm supposed to learn driving after I get back from Singapore. :D My father's my Taekwondo instructor. He's also my sports coach and he's got his own gym - not the body building type, mind you. It's rather "different". And my mother's a teacher. I can't help my mother, so I help my father. :) Wow, you can sew? I'm not good at it, altough I mean to learn how to use a sewing machine soon. *sigh* So many things I wanna learn, so little time. ;)

My hol's probably lasting till March, then when my results come I'll have to start making plans. Tough. My hols are packed ... have a lot to prepare for CHINESE NEW YEAR!! Haha. Singapore is the big thing that's happening. Otherwise it isn't anything special either. When are your O-levels, next year? Can't remember if you told me.

Hey, Nazlie, it's ok if you're caught up in exams. I was too - hated it as well! I am so relieved that they're over. Now I'm waiting to see if I can go to the gov matric colleges or the sixth form. What's school like in Turkey? Good luck on your English paper!

My fave colours? Consistently, it's gotta be red.

wow you people do a lot of work and take part in a lot of activities. where do you find the time.
i get up at 5:30 in the morning , got to school, come back at 3:00, then go to my tutions at 3:05. then come back at 6:30 pm. then i m so tired a cannot even do my homework.

hehe.. Actually, I enjoy having a hectic life.. Maybe cos I'm so used to it.. Yup, Agent J, I know how to sew and use a sewing machine but the sewing's better.. Cos I've been sewing since I was lil..

Driving's cool.. I'm dying to wait til I'm 18 to learn driving.. I wanna be able to drive.. BLACK BELT.. I'm gonna kill you.. Haha.. Kidding.. I like martial arts too but don't have the chance to learn it.. "Uncle, teach me Taekwondo can?" haha.. My parents don't like the idea of me learning Taekwondo.. But nvm.. Yup, my O'levels are next yr.. Sigh.. Don't wanna think about it..

my only type of exercise is going to my tutions and climb to the third floor everyday. i also walk pretty fast since i'm always running late.

Riya, it's "Good Charlotte" and uh huh, their songs are good. ;) I've been listening to a lot of local stuff lately. Shelly Leong, Reshmonu, Too Phat, Teh Tarik Crew ... and there's this one called "Samseng" sung by I-dunno-who. :) Internationally, it's rather diverse. Green Day, Linkin Park, Eminem, Jay Chou, Maksim ... erm, anything that's on the radio. :lol:

Hmm ... school times seem very long in India. For me it used to be 7.20 to 2 pm, but I'd leave my house at 6 to walk to school. And if there are activities, sometimes I didn't get home till 7.30pm. What about in other countries? Spore? Turkey?

Badminton? Yeah, Ica told me you're good at that Ianne. :rolleyes: Yeah, I've got badminton friends. I don't play much tho. I like the outdoors too. ;) Don't worry if you can't learn martial arts even if you want to. There are too many things to learn, gotta learn them one at a time otherwise you can't master them. Hehe. I gave up piano to concentrate on my studies and other stuff, it just wasn't top priority. At least I know a bit of music. ^_^

Has anyone seen any great movies lately? I just watched "Beautiful Boxer" - a Thai movie. :wub: It's the best martial arts movie I've ever seen and I cried sooo many times. Hehe. Errrm ... do I have an embarassed smiliey about? Anyway, Beautiful Boxer is about a transsexual who takes up Muay Thai to feed his family and so that he can have a sex-change operation. I know it sounds kinda disgusting, but the story is very very touching. *sob sob sob* Man, I'd wanna write smth like that ... make my audiences REALLY cry, and not just feel sad.

I enjoyed the Incredibles too! :lol: Loved the part where Elastigal got caught between doors. And of course, the ultimate Edna Mode!

Cry? So emotional.. Hehe.. No lahz.. It's fine.. I cry too when watching movies that are really touching.. ;) I haven't watched any movies lately cos I can't go out.. I'm not grounded.. It's just that I'm a ger, my parents don't really let me out.. Maybe only a few times in the hols.. I love watching movies like Honey, Bring it on, Bring it on again, the hot chick, You got served etc. They're either hilarious or they're about dancing.. Cos I love dancing.. :D.. I like swimming too.. That's why pple thought that I'm a malay cos I'm tanned.. Huh.. :unsure:
